Abstract
Abstract A pulley construction for use in a continuously variable power transmission arrangement. The conical working surfaces of the drive pulleys and the driven pulleys are comprised of removable segments formed of material which is relatively erodable so that the conical pulley surfaces will wear away before the drive belt. The segments are to be replaced when their surfaces have been eroded too much. The replacement of the pulley face segments is simpler and less expensive than replacing the belt, and the use of a relatively erodable pulley face prolongs the life of the belt.
