Abstract

Abstract An image is magnified or reduced by dividing the image into divisional images, magnifying or reducing each of the divisional images and combining the magnified or reduced divisional images. The magnification or reduction of the divisional images is carried out by inserting one pixel into, or deleting one pixel from, each of the divisional images.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 21
Claim 1
Independent Claim 86 words
A method for changing a magnification of an image comprising the steps of: dividing the image into a number of divisional images; magnifying the divisional images; and combining the magnified divisional images, wherein, for a magnification in a range of (1, 2) or (1/2, 1), the image is divided into the divisional images such that each divisional image has a number of pixels which causes the number of pixels in a one-dimensional direction of the magnified or reduced image to be increased or decreased by one.
Claim 2
Independent Claim 86 words
A method for changing a magnification of an image comprising the steps of: dividing the image into a number of divisional images; magnifying the divisional images; and combining the magnified divisional images, wherein, for a magnification in a range of (1, 2) or (1/2, 1), the image is divided into the divisional images such that each divisional image has a number of pixels which causes the number of pixels in a one-dimensional direction of the magnified or reduced image to be increased or decreased by one.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 46 words
A method for changing a magnification of an image according to claim 1 wherein, for a given magnification A, the number m of pixels in onedimensional direction in the divisional image meets the following relations. ##EQU5## where [x] is the largest integer no larger than x.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 30 words
A method for changing a magnification of an image according to claim 1 wherein one pixel is inserted into or deleted from the divisional image to be magnified or reduced.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 34 words
A method for changing a magnification of an image according to claim 3 wherein a position of insertion or deletion of one pixel is designated prior to magnification or reduction of the divisional image.
Claim 6
Independent Claim 77 words
A method for changing a magnification of a digital image by dividing the digital image into divisional images each having a number of pixels which causes a change of the number of pixels in each direction after the magnification of the divisional image, wherein the digital image is divided in each direction into a number of said divisional images equal to the difference between the numbers of pixels of said digital image before and after the magnification.
Claim 7
Independent Claim 77 words
A method for changing a magnification of a digital image by dividing the digital image into divisional images each having a number of pixels which causes a change of the number of pixels in each direction after the magnification of the divisional image, wherein the digital image is divided in each direction into a number of said divisional images equal to the difference between the numbers of pixels of said digital image before and after the magnification.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 33 words
A method for changing a magnification of a digital image according to claim 5 wherein the numbers of pixels of the divisional images in the same direction may be different from each other.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 25 words
A method for changing a magnification of a digital image according to claim 6 wherein the number of pixels in each divisional image is specified.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 31 words
A method for changing a magnification of a digital image according to claim 6 wherein one pixel is inserted into or deleted from each divisional image to be magnified or reduced.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 35 words
A method for changing a magnification of a digital image according to claim 9 wherein a position of insertion or deletion of one pixel is designated prior to magnification or reduction of the divisional image.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim 24 words
A method for changing a magnification of a digital image according to claim 6 wherein data derived by raster-scanning the image is serially magnified.
Claim 13
Dependent Claim 24 words
A method for changing a magnification of a digital image according to claim 6 wherein vertical and horizontal magnifications are different from each other.
Claim 14
Independent Claim 69 words
An apparatus for changing a size of a digital image comprising: means for dividing said digital image into divisional images each having a number of pixels which causes the number of pixels in each direction to be changed by one after the magnification or reduction of the divisional image; means for changing the sizes of said divisional images; and means for combining the divisional images having their sizes changed.
Claim 15
Independent Claim 69 words
An apparatus for changing a size of a digital image comprising: means for dividing said digital image into divisional images each having a number of pixels which causes the number of pixels in each direction to be changed by one after the magnification or reduction of the divisional image; means for changing the sizes of said divisional images; and means for combining the divisional images having their sizes changed.
Claim 16
Independent Claim 59 words
An apparatus for changing a size of an image, comprising: input means for instructing magnification of the image; dividing means for dividing the image into divisional images in response to the instruction for magnifying the image from said input means; means for magnifying the divisional images; and means for combining the divisional images as magnified by said magnifying means.
Claim 17
Independent Claim 59 words
An apparatus for changing a size of an image, comprising: input means for instructing magnification of the image; dividing means for dividing the image into divisional images in response to the instruction for magnifying the image from said input means; means for magnifying the divisional images; and means for combining the divisional images as magnified by said magnifying means.
Claim 18
Dependent Claim 29 words
An apparatus for changing a size of an image according to claim 13 wherein said input means comprises means for designating magnification of any of a plurality of sizes.
Claim 19
Dependent Claim 47 words
An apparatus for changing a size of an image according to claim 14 further comprising means for determining a number of divisional images into which the image is divided by said dividing means in response to each input of a plurality of sizes of said input means.
Claim 20
Dependent Claim 54 words
An apparatus for changing a size of an image according to claim 13 wherein the image comprises a plurality of lines and a plurality of rows and wherein said dividing means divides the image into the divisional images such that the divisional images each comprise fewer lines and fewer rows than said image has.
Claim 21
Dependent Claim 32 words
An apparatus for changing a size of an image according to claim 16 wherein said magnifying means comprises means for increasing the number of lines or of rows of the divisional images.
