Abstract
Abstract An intravascular prosthesis comprises a lining rolled upon itself around an axis so that it is introducible into a vascular lumen. An inflatable channel is included for unrolling the lining when the prosthesis is positioned within the lumen so that the lining may engage the vascular wall to provide support therefor. A filter is provided for filtering the blood which passes through the prosthesis when the lining is unrolled.

Claim 1
Independent Claim
131 words
An intravascular prosthesis comprising: a lining rolled upon itself in a plurality of turns around a longitudinal axis so that it is introducible into a vascular lumen surrounded by a vascular wall; an inflatable channel associated with said lining and being rolled upon itself around said longitudinal axis, said channel including a filling port for the introduction of fluid into said channel for the inflation thereof, said lining and said channel having the capability of unrolling when said channel is inflated so that the lining may engage the vascular wall to provide support therefor; and a porous filter connected to said lining and positioned so that, when the lining is unrolled, said filter extends substantially transversely across the interior of said unrolled lining to prevent blood from passing through the prosthesis.

Claim 3
Dependent Claim
49 words
The prosthesis of claim 1 wherein the unrolled lining and channel, when the channel is inflated, defines an intravascular prosthesis having an open interior passageway along said longitudinal axis so that blood may pass therethrough, with said filter extending across said passageway to prevent blodo clots from passing therethrough.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
28 words
The prosthesis of claim 1 wherein there is a plurality of rolled, inflatable channels associated with said lining and spaced axially from each other along said longitudinal axis.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
31 words
The prosthesis of claim 3 wherein said inflatable channels are interconnected by a fluid conduit in fluid communication with said filling port so that all of said channels may be inflated.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
10 words
The prosthesis of claim 1 wherein said filter is flexible.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
10 words
The prosthesis of claim 5 wherein said filter is reticulated.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
22 words
The prosthesis of claim 1 wherein there is a plurality of said filters spaced axially from each other along said longitudinal axis.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim

The prosthesis of claim 1 wherein said prosthesis is made of biocompatible material.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim
13 words
The prosthesis of claim 8 wherein said lining is seeded with endothelial cells.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim
28 words
The prosthesis of claim 8 wherein said prosthesis is treated to prevent blood clots from forming in the blood after said prosthesis is positioned in the vascular lumen.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim
25 words
The prosthesis of claim 1 wherein said lining and said channel have the capability of returning to the rolled condition after inflation of said channel.
Claim 13
Dependent Claim
34 words
The prosthesis of claim 1 which further includes a valve associated with said filling port so that fluid introduced into said channel is prevented from escaping thereby maintaining said channel in an inflated condition.
Claim 14
Dependent Claim
