Abstract

Abstract A golf club includes a skeletal air-permeable frame formed of a plurality of spaced apart rods concentrically arranged about a longitudinal axis. At least one tie member integrally interconnects the rods to provide structural rigidity and maintain the spacing between adjacent rods. The tie member is spirally wrapped about the frame and is joined to individual rods at intersections by welding or bonding. The rods and tie member may be formed of solid or hollow wire having a diameter between 3/1000 of an inch to 4/100 of an inch, and a typical shaft includes from five to thirty rods. The rods may be constructed of conventional metals such as stainless steel, titanium and the like, as well as epoxy impregnated graphite, Fiberglas, polycarbonates and the like.
