Abstract

Abstract Low levels of surface-active, aliphatic C16 or greater hydrocarbon-type compounds are used to reduce the rate of evaporation of water from waterborne polymer products such as latex coatings. This increases the wet-edge or open time of the freshly applied coating, improves integrity and adhesion of the dried coating, and reduces skin formation in containers and on application equipment.
