Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 10
Claim 1
Independent Claim 163 words
A fuel treatment apparatus comprising: means defining a settling chamber having an inlet in a bottom portion thereof and an outlet in an upper portion thereof and a wall at the lateral perimeter thereof; a filter-separator between said inlet and said outlet through which said fluid must pass to reach said outlet; a downwardly pointed conical spreader above said inlet generally centrally disposed within said chamber, but spaced from said outer wall with an upper surface and a lower surface, said fluid being spread about said lower surface and flowing through the space between said spreader and said wall; a water collection zone in a bottom section of said chamber below said conical spreader; said upper surface of said conical spreader forming a catcher to catch moisture dropping from said filter-separator; means to permit moisture on said upper surface to flow through said conical spreader and into said water collection zone; and drain means to permit drainage of water from said collection zone.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 163 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 31 words
The apparatus according to claim 1 further comprising a jacket surrounding said means defining a chamber for permittng the passing therethrough of a heating fluid to heat fluid in said chamber.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 26 words
The apparatus according to claim 1 further including a probe mounted in said water collection zone to detect the presence of water at a predetermined level.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 12 words
The apparatus according to claim 1 wherein said chamber is cylindrically shaped.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 22 words
The apparatus according to claim 1 wherein said filter-separator is conically shaped and downwardly pointed and generally concentric with said conical spreader.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 15 words
The apparatus according to claim 5 wherein said filter-separator is comprised of teflon-covered stainless steel.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 30 words
The apparatus according to claim 1 wherein said means defining a chamber comprises a removable lid through which said outlet passes and wherein said filter-separator is attached to said lid.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 38 words
The apparatus according to claim 7 further including a conduit communicating with said outlet with radially disposed orifices passing therethrough for receipt of filtered fluid and wherein said conduit resiliently supports said filter-separator in contact with said lid.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 33 words
The apparatus according to claim 1 further including an inlet conduit communicating with said inlet with radially disposed orifices through which unfiltered fuel flows and wherein said inlet conduit supports said conical spreader.
