Abstract

Abstract A nylon matrix is partially hydrolyzed to form free amine end groups which are then linked to a protein molecule, e.g., an antigen or antibody, by a divalent radical which is the residue of a diimide molecule. The nylon carrying the protein can then be used in conventional manner in an immunoassay or an enzyme assay.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 12
Claim 1
Independent Claim 67 words
An immobilized protein comprising a partially hydrolyzed still solid nylon matrix, protein molecules, and divalent radicals linking the protein to the matrix, the divalent radicals being the residues of diimide molecules, produced by partially hydrolyzing a nylon matrix, terminating hydrolysis while the nylon is still solid, reacting the nylon with an acylating agent, reacting the nylon with a diimide, and then reacting the product with a protein.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 67 words
An immobilized protein comprising a partially hydrolyzed still solid nylon matrix, protein molecules, and divalent radicals linking the protein to the matrix, the divalent radicals being the residues of diimide molecules, produced by partially hydrolyzing a nylon matrix, terminating hydrolysis while the nylon is still solid, reacting the nylon with an acylating agent, reacting the nylon with a diimide, and then reacting the product with a protein.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 13 words
An immobilized protein according to claim 1, wherein the protein comprises an enzyme.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 21 words
An immobilized protein according to claim 1, wherein the protein comprises an antigen or antibody or is linked to an antigen.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 14 words
An immobilized protein according to claim 1, wherein the protein comprises a monoclonal antibody.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 15 words
An immobilized protein according to claim 1, wherein the nylon was partially hydrolyzed by N,N-dimethylaminopropylamine.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 36 words
In an immunoassay wherein an antigen and an antibody are caused to interact, and the extent of interaction is monitored, the improvement wherein the antigen or antibody is employed in immobilized form according to claim 1.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 14 words
The method according to claim 6, wherein the immobilized substance is a monoclonal antibody.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 40 words
A prepared matrix ready to immobilize a protein, produced by partially hydrolyzing a nylon matrix with N,N-dimethylaminopropylamine, terminating hydrolysis while the nylon is still solid, reacting the nylon with an acylating agent, and then reacting the nylon with a diimide.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 40 words
A prepared matrix ready to immobilize a protein, produced by partially hydrolyzing a nylon matrix with N,N-dimethylaminopropylamine, terminating hydrolysis while the nylon is still solid, reacting the nylon with an acylating agent, and then reacting the nylon with a diimide.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 34 words
An intermediate in the preparation of an immobilized protein, produced by partially hydrolyzing a nylon matrix with N,N-dimethylamino-propylamine, terminating hydrolysis while the nylon is still solid, and reacting the nylon with an acylating agent.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim 34 words
An intermediate in the preparation of an immobilized protein, produced by partially hydrolyzing a nylon matrix with N,N-dimethylamino-propylamine, terminating hydrolysis while the nylon is still solid, and reacting the nylon with an acylating agent.
