Recording apparatus capable of precisely positioning a recording sheet

Claim 2

A recording apparatus for recording on a cut recording sheet an image corresponding to image information, comprising: a rotating member; guide means for guiding and transporting an elongated transfer sheet, having transfer materials for recording an image on the recording sheet by transferring them onto the recording sheet, wherein the transfer sheet extends essentially completely around said rotating member such that the cut recording sheet is pinched between said rotating member and the transfer sheet when conveyed plural times around said rotating member in the same direction; and recording means for recording the image corresponding to the image information on the cut recording sheet, said recording means being disposed at a position where it opposes said rotating member along the conveyance path of the recording sheet which is conveyed while pinched between said rotating member and the transfer sheet.

Claim 3

An apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the peripheral length of said rotating member is equal to or longer than the length of the cut recording sheet with respect to the conveyance direction.

Claim 4

An apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the transfer sheet is wound around a periphery of said rotating member under tension.

Claim 5

An apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said recording means included a thermal head.

Claim 6

An apparatus according to claim 1, wherein a width of said transfer sheet is substantially equal to the width of said rotating member.

Claim 7

An apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the transfer sheet includes a plurality of thermal transfer material areas of various colors which are aligned in the conveyance direction, and said rotating member is rotated plural times in one direction to effect multi-color recording on the recording sheet and thereafter is rotated in the reverse direction to discharge the recording sheet.

Claim 8

An apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said rotating member and said guide means are driven by a common drive source.

Claim 9

An apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said guide means guides the transfer sheet such that when said rotating member rotates once, the edge of the recording sheet released from said rotating member contacts the transfer sheet at an acute angle, and thereafter the second rotation of the recording sheet is executed.

Claim 10

An apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the recording sheet projects from a side end of said rotating member with respect to an axis thereof, and the projecting end is directly detected by detecting means to detect a position of the recording sheet.

Claim 11

An apparatus according to claim 1, further comprising recording sheet guide means for guiding the recording sheet such that when said rotating member rotates in a normal direction for recording, the recording sheet is kept in contact with said rotating member, and when said rotating member rotates in a reverse direction for discharging, the recording sheet is separated from said rotating member.

Claim 12

An apparatus according to claim 1, further comprising a guide plate displosed at an entrance passed by an advancing edge of the recording sheet advancing toward the location where said rotating member and the transfer sheet come into contact.

Claim 13

An apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the transfer sheet is successively fed from a supply roll and taken up around a winding roll.

Claim 14

An apparatus according to claim 1, where said guide means includes a pair of guide rollers.

Claim 15

An apparatus according to claim 13, wherein said rotating member includes a platen drum and said pair of rollers are driven by a drive source common to said palten drum.

Claim 16

An apparatus according to claim 14, wherein the peripheral speed of one of said rollers is lower than the peripheral speed of said platen drum and the peripheral speed of the other said roller is greater than the peripheral speed of said platen drum.

Claim 17

A recording apparatus for recording on a cut recording sheet an image corresponding to image information, comprising: a rotating member; guide means for guiding and transporting an elongated transfer sheet, having transfer materials for recording an image on the recording sheet by transferring them onto the recording sheet, wherein the transfer sheet extends essentially completely around said rotating member such that the cut recording sheet is pinched between said rotating member and the transfer sheet when conveyed plural times around said rotating member in the same direction; recording means for recording the image corresponding to the image information on the cut recording sheet, said recording means being disposed at a position where it opposes said rotating member along the conveyance path of the recording sheet which is conveyed while pinched between said rotating member and the transfer sheet; and driving means for rotating said rotating member in a reverse direction relative to the direction of the plural rotations thereof after a predetermined number of rotations so as to discharge the cut recording sheet on which the image has been recorded.

Claim 18

A recording apparatus for recording on a cut recording sheet an image corresponding to image information, comprising: a rotating member; guide means for guiding and transporting an elongated transfer sheet, having transfer materials for recording an image on the recording sheet by transferring them onto the recording sheet, wherein the transfer sheet extends essentially completely around said rotating member such that the cut recording sheet is pinched between said rotating member and the transfer sheet when conveyed plural times around said rotating member in the same direction; recording means for recording the image corresponding to the image information on the cut recording sheet, said recording means being disposed at a position where it opposes said rotating member along the conveyance path of the recording sheet which is conveyed while pinched between said rotating member and the transfer sheet; and driving means for rotating said rotating member in a reverse direction relative to the direction of the plural rotations thereof after a predetermined number of rotations so as to discharge the cut recording sheet on which the image has been recorded.

Claim 19

An apparatus according to claim 16, wherein the peripheral length of said rotating member is equal to or longer than the length of the cut recording sheet with respect to the conveyance direction.

An apparatus according to claim 16, wherein the transfer sheet is wound around a periphery of the rotating member under tension.

An apparatus according to claim 16, wherein said recording means includes a thermal head.

An apparatus according to claim 16, wherein the width of the transfer sheet is substantially equal to the width of said rotating member.

An apparatus according to claim 16, wherein said rotating member and said guide means are driven by a common drive source.

Claim 24

An apparatus according to claim 16, wherein said guide means guides the transfer sheet such that when said rotating member rotates once, the edge of the recording sheet released from said rotating member contacts the transfer sheet at an acute angle, and thereafter the second rotation of the recording sheet is executed.

An apparatus according to claim 16, wherein the recording sheet projects from a side end of said rotating member with respect to an axis thereof, and the projected end is directly detected by detecting means to detect a position of the recording sheet.

An apparatus according to claim 23, wherein said detecting means detects the leading and trailing edges of the recording sheet.

Claim 27

An apparatus according to claim 16, further comprising recording sheet guide means for guiding the recording sheet such that when said rotating member rotates in a normal direction for recording, , the recording sheet is kept in contact with said rotating member, and when said rotating member rotates in a reverse direction for discharging, the recording sheet is separated from said rotating member.

An apparatus according to claim 16, further comprising a guide plate disposed at an entrance passed by an advancing edge of the recording sheet advancing toward the location where said rotating member and the transfer sheet contact.

An apparatus according to claim 16, wherein the transfer sheet is successively fed from a supply roll and taken up around a winding roll.

Claim 30

A recording apparatus for recording on a cut recording sheet an image corresponding to image information, comprising: a rotating member; guide means for guiding and transporting an elongated transfer sheet, having transfer materials of plural colors aligned in the transport direction, wherein the transfer sheet extends essentially completely around said rotating member such that the cut recording sheet is pinched between said rotating member and the transfer sheet when conveyed plural times around said rotating member in the same direction; detecting means for detecting a boundary between colors of the transfer materials on the transfer sheet; and feed means for feeding the recording sheet to the pinching portion between said rotating member and the transfer sheet in accordance with the detection by said detecting means so that the recording sheet is conveyed while a predetermined position of the recording sheet is located relative to a predetermined position of the transfer sheet.

Claim 31

A recording apparatus for recording on a cut recording sheet an image corresponding to image information, comprising: a rotating member; guide means for guiding and transporting an elongated transfer sheet, having transfer materials of plural colors aligned in the transport direction, wherein the transfer sheet extends essentially completely around said rotating member such that the cut recording sheet is pinched between said rotating member and the transfer sheet when conveyed plural times around said rotating member in the same direction; detecting means for detecting a boundary between colors of the transfer materials on the transfer sheet; and feed means for feeding the recording sheet to the pinching portion between said rotating member and the transfer sheet in accordance with the detection by said detecting means so that the recording sheet is conveyed while a predetermined position of the recording sheet is located relative to a predetermined position of the transfer sheet.

Claim 32

An apparatus according to claim 28, wherein the peripheral length of said rotating member is equal to or longer than the length of the cut recording sheet with respect to the conveyance direction.

An apparatus according to claim 28, wherein the transfer sheet is wound around a periphery of the rotating member under tension.

An apparatus according to claim 28, wherein said recording means includes a thermal head.

An apparatus according to claim 28, wherein the width of the transfer sheet is substantially equal to the width of said rotating member.

Claim 36

An apparatus according to claim 28, wherein the transfer sheet includes a plurality of thermal transfer material area of various colors which are aligned in the conveyance direction, and said rotating member is rotated plural times in one direction to effect multi-color recording on the recording sheet and thereafter is rotated in the reverse direction to discharge the recording sheet.

An apparatus according to claim 28, wherein said rotating member and said guide means are driven by a common drive source.

An apparatus according to claim 28, wherein said guide means guides the transfer sheet such that when said rotating member rotates once, the edge of the recording sheet released from said rotating member contacts the transfer sheet at an acute angle, and thereafter the second rotation of the recording sheet is executed.

An apparatus according to claim 28, further comprising a guide plate disposed at an entrance passed by an advancing edge of the recording sheet advancing toward the location where said rotating member and the transfer sheet contact.

An apparatus according to claim 28, wherein the transfer sheet is successively fed from a supply roll and taken up around a winding roll.
