Abstract
Abstract A method for enhancing the activity of a synthetic crystalline zeolite, including a zeolite having a silica-to-alumina ratio greater than 500, is disclosed which involves compositing the zeolite with an alumina support matrix and reacting the composite with a concentrated aqueous solution of an ammonium halide preferably ammonium fluoride. The halide treated zeolite subsequently is contacted with an ammonium salt such as ammonium nitrate and subsequently is calcined.
