Abstract
Abstract A syringe barrel includes an elongate barrel portion having a chamber for retaining fluid and a tip extending from a distal end of the barrel portion having a passageway therethrough communicating with the chamber. A coating on the tip increases the roughness of the tip so that the force required to remove a fluid transfer apparatus, removably connected to the tip by a frictional interference fit, is greater than the force required to remove the fluid transfer apparatus from an identically sized tip without the coating.
