Abstract Hair shampoo and body cleansing agent having a content of alkyl-sulfatobetaine of the formula ##STR1## wherein R 1 is C 8 -C 22 alkyl or C 8 -C 22 alkenyl, preferably C 12 -C 18 alkyl, R 2 is C 1 -C 4 alkyl, preferably methyl, R 3 is C 1 -C 4 hydroxyalkyl or a group of the formula --(CH 2 CH 2 O) n H and n is an integer of from 1 to 10.
