Abstract

Abstract The use of dicarboxylic acids or the salts thereof in aqueous solutions to prevent the corrosion of high lead solders contacted thereby is described. These materials are particularly useful in phosphate-based antifreezes. Particularly preferred is the combination of a dicarboxylic acid and an alkali metal molybdate. This mixture gives greater corrosion protection to high lead solder than either component alone.
