A sheet to be heat transfer printed which is to be used in combination with a heat transfer printing sheet, and which has a receptive layer for receiving a dye transferred from the heat transfer printing sheet upon being heated, said receptive layer comprising first and second regions characterized in that: (a) the first region is formed from a synthetic resin having a glass transition temperature of from -100° to 20° C. and having a polar group; (b) the second region is formed from a synthetic resin having a glass transition temperature of 40° C. or above; (c) both the first region and the second region are exposed at the surface of the receptive layer, the first region occupying at least 15% of said surface; and (d) the first region exists in the form of mutually independent islands and the respective longitudinal length of the island-like portions is from 0.5 to 200 μm.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
153 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
23 words
The sheet to be heat transfer printed according to claim 1 wherein said receptive layer is provided on the surface of a substrate.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
28 words
The sheet to be heat transfer printed according to claim 1 wherein the first region-forming synthetic resin has a glass transition temperature of from -50° to 10° C.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
40 words
The sheet to be heat transfer printed according to claim 1 wherein the first region-forming synthetic resin has a polar group selected from the group consisting of ester linkages, urethane linkages, amide linkages, urea linkages, C--CN linkages, and C--Cl linkages.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
28 words
The sheet to be heat transfer printed according to claim 1 wherein the second region-forming synthetic resin has a glass transition temperature of from 50° to 150° C.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
27 words
The sheet to be heat transfer printed according to claim 1 wherein the first region occupies from 15 to 95% of the surface of the receptive layer.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
43 words
The sheet to be heat transfer printed according to claim 1 wherein the longitudinal lengths of the island-like portions of the first region are from 10 to 100 μm, and the periphery of the first region is substantially surrounded by the second region.
