Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 15
Claim 1
Independent Claim 74 words
A process for treating hazardous wastes which contain hazardous organic compound containing covalently bound element selected from the group consisting of oxygen, nitrogen, sulfur and phosphorus, said process comprising the steps of introducing such compound below the surface of a bath comprising molten aluminum and reacting covalently bound oxygen, nitrogen, sulfur and phosphorus in said compound with molten aluminum in said bath to reduce such compound thereby destroying it and forming less hazardous product.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 74 words
A process for treating hazardous wastes which contain hazardous organic compound containing covalently bound element selected from the group consisting of oxygen, nitrogen, sulfur and phosphorus, said process comprising the steps of introducing such compound below the surface of a bath comprising molten aluminum and reacting covalently bound oxygen, nitrogen, sulfur and phosphorus in said compound with molten aluminum in said bath to reduce such compound thereby destroying it and forming less hazardous product.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 33 words
A process as recited in claim 1, in which the hazardous organic compound contains covalently bound oxygen and is selected from the group consisting of alcohols, aldehydes, ketones, carboxylic acids, esters, and ethers.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 28 words
A process as recited in claim 1, in which the hazardous organic compound contains covalently bound nitrogen and is selected from the group consisting of nitriles and amines.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 31 words
A process as recited in claim 1, in which the hazardous organic compound contains covalently bound sulfur and is selected from the group consisting of sulfides, thiols, thioketones, thiocarbonyls and mercaptans.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 21 words
A process as recited in claim 1, in which the hazardous organic compound contains covalently bound phosphorus and is a phosphine.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 41 words
A process as recited in claim 1, in which the hazardous organic compound contains both covalently bound oxygen and covalently bound nitrogen and is selected from the group consisting of nitro compounds, nitroso compounds, amides, oximes, amino alcohols and amino acids.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 36 words
A process as recited in claim 1, in which the hazardous organic compound contains both covalently bound sulfur and covalently bound oxygen and is selected from the group consisting of sulfonic acids, sulfonates, thiols and sulfones.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 33 words
A process as recited in claim 1, in which the hazardous organic compound contains both covalently bound oxygen and covalently bound phosphorus and is selected from the group consisting of phosphates and phosphonates.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 33 words
A process as recited in claim 1, in which the hazardous organic compound contains covalently bound sulfur and covalently bound nitrogen and is selected from the group consisting of thioamides and amino thiols.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 16 words
A process as recited in claim 1, in which the hazardous organic compound additionally contains halogen.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim 20 words
A process as recited in claim 1 in which the hazardous organic compound contains covalently bound oxygen, nitrogen and sulfur.
Claim 13
Dependent Claim 20 words
A process as recited in claim 1 in which the hazardous organic compound contains covalently bound oxygen, sulfur and phosphorus.
Claim 14
Dependent Claim 20 words
A process as recited in claim 1 in which the hazardous organic compound contains covalently bound nitrogen, phosphorus and oxygen.
Claim 15
Dependent Claim 21 words
A process as recited in claim 1 in which the hazardous organic compound contains covalently bound oxygen, nitrogen, phosphorous and sulfur.
