Abstract

Abstract A method of preparing alkali metal salts or alkaline earth metal salts of acyloxybenzenesulfonate by reacting an alkali metal salt or an alkaline earth metal salt of hydroxybenzenesulfonic acid with an organic compound containing olefinic unsaturation and carbon monoxide at elevated temperature and elevated pressure in the presence of a catalytic amount of a metal carbonyl compound and a promoter selected from pyridine, non-ortho-substituted alkylpyridine or mixtures thereof.

Independent Claim 81 words
A method of preparing alkali metal salts or alkaline earth metal salts of acyloxybenzenesulfonate by reacting an alkali metal salt or an alkaline earth metal salt of hydroxybenzenesulfonic acid with an organic compound containing olefinic unsaturation and carbon monoxide under an otherwise inert atmosphere at elevated temperature above about 125° C. and elevated pressure above about 500 psig in the presence of a catalytic amount of a metal carbonyl compound and a promoter selected from pyridine, non-ortho-substituted alkylpyridine or mixtures thereof.
