Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 8
Claim 1
Independent Claim 134 words
A gel preparation for external application comprising diclofenac sodium as the active ingredient and present in amount of 0.3 to 3.0% by weight; a medium comprising water, a lower alkanol selected from the group consisting of methanol, ethanol, iso-propanol, butanol; and a glycol selected from the group consisting of ethylene glycol, propylene glycol and 1,3-butylene glycol, the medium being present in an amount at least sufficient to dissolve the active ingredient, the ratio of water to the combination of the lower alkanol and glycol being from about 8:2 to 4:6; a carboxyvinyl polymer selected from the group consisting of the hydrophilic polymers obtained by polymerization of acrylic acid, and present in an amount sufficient to gel the preparation; and an aliphatic amine, present in an amount sufficient to adjust the pH to about 6-8.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 134 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 26 words
A gel preparation as claimed in claim 1, wherein the aliphatic amine is a primary, secondary or tertiary alkanolamine, or a primary, secondary or tertiary alkylamine.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 17 words
A gel preparation as claimed in claim 1, wherein the weak basic substance is triethanolamine or diisopropanolamine.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 24 words
A gel preparation as claimed in claim 1, which further contains peppermint oil, l-methol or salicyclic acid ester added there to as auxiliary agent.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 21 words
A gel preparation as claimed in claim 4, wherein the salicylic acid ester is methyl salicylate, ethyl salicylate or glycol salicylate.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 24 words
A gel preparation as claimed in claim 1, wherein the ratio by weight of water: lower alkanol: glycol in the medium is about 60:30:10.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 23 words
The gel preparation of claim 1, wherein the aliphatic amine is present in an amount of from 0.1-5% by weight of the preparation.
