Claim 2

A record member comprising a substrate and a color developer composition comprising a zinc-modified addition product prepared by a process comprising mixing together and heating an addition product of phenol and a diolefinic alkylated or alkenylated cyclic hydrocarbon, a zinc compound selected from the group consisting of zinc oxide and zinc carbonate, benzoic acid and a weak base.

Claim 3

The record member of claim 1 wherein the cyclic hydrocarbon is a terpene.

Claim 4

The record member of claim 2 wherein the terpene is limonene.

Claim 5

The record member of claim 1, 2, or 3 wherein the weak base is selected from the group consisting of ammonium bicarbonate and ammonium hydroxide.

Claim 6

The record member of claim 4 wherein the weak base is ammonium bicarbonate.

Claim 7

The record member of claim 5 wherein the zinc compound is zinc oxide.

Claim 8

A pressure-sensitive record unit comprising: (a) support sheet material; (b) mark-forming components, and a pressure-releasable liquid organic solvent for both said mark-forming components arranged in contiguous juxtaposition and supported by said sheet material; (c) at least one of the mark-forming components being maintained in isolation from other mark-forming component(s); (d) said mark-forming components comprising at least one basic chromogenic material and at least one zinc-modified addition product prepared by a process comprising mixing together and heating an addition product of phenol and a diolefinic alkylated or alkenylated cyclic hydrocarbon, a zinc compound selected from the group consisting of zinc oxide and zinc carbonate, benzoic acid and a weak base, which components, on pressure release of the liquid organic solvent, are brought into reactive contact.

Claim 9

A pressure-sensitive record unit comprising: (a) support sheet material; (b) mark-forming components, and a pressure-releasable liquid organic solvent for both said mark-forming components arranged in contiguous juxtaposition and supported by said sheet material; (c) at least one of the mark-forming components being maintained in isolation from other mark-forming component(s); (d) said mark-forming components comprising at least one basic chromogenic material and at least one zinc-modified addition product prepared by a process comprising mixing together and heating an addition product of phenol and a diolefinic alkylated or alkenylated cyclic hydrocarbon, a zinc compound selected from the group consisting of zinc oxide and zinc carbonate, benzoic acid and a weak base, which components, on pressure release of the liquid organic solvent, are brought into reactive contact.

Claim 10

The record unit of claim 7 wherein the cyclic hydrocarbon is a terpene.

Claim 11

The record unit of claim 8 wherein the terpene is limonene.

Claim 12

The record unit of claim 7, 8 or 9 wherein the weak base is selected from the group consisting of ammonium bicarbonate or ammonium hydroxide.

Claim 13

The record unit of claim 10 wherein the weak base is ammonium bicarbonate.

Claim 14

The record unit of claim 11 wherein the zinc compound is zinc oxide.
