Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 7
Claim 1
Independent Claim 72 words
A method of controlling engine air inflow in a diesel engine system including means for supplying pressurized air to an engine and means for supplying fuel to the engine, comprising the steps of: selectively controlling engine air inflow with a force-biased relief valve responsive to the pressure of air supplied to the engine; and selectively altering the force-bias acting on the relief valve in response to fuel flow supplied to the engine.
Claim 2
Independent Claim 72 words
A method of controlling engine air inflow in a diesel engine system including means for supplying pressurized air to an engine and means for supplying fuel to the engine, comprising the steps of: selectively controlling engine air inflow with a force-biased relief valve responsive to the pressure of air supplied to the engine; and selectively altering the force-bias acting on the relief valve in response to fuel flow supplied to the engine.
Claim 3
Independent Claim 95 words
A method of controlling engine air inflow in a diesel engine system including means for supplying pressurized air to an engine and means for supplying fuel to the engine, comprising the steps of: selecting the flow of fuel to the engine; modulating the position of a force-biased air flow relief valve in response to the pressure of air supplied to the engine; and adjusting the inflow of air to the engine in response to the fuel flow by altering the force-bias acting on said relief valve in response to the fuel flow to the engine.
Claim 4
Independent Claim 95 words
A method of controlling engine air inflow in a diesel engine system including means for supplying pressurized air to an engine and means for supplying fuel to the engine, comprising the steps of: selecting the flow of fuel to the engine; modulating the position of a force-biased air flow relief valve in response to the pressure of air supplied to the engine; and adjusting the inflow of air to the engine in response to the fuel flow by altering the force-bias acting on said relief valve in response to the fuel flow to the engine.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 21 words
The method of claim 2 wherein said fuel flow selecting step comprises selectively setting the position of a fuel control rack.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 20 words
The method of claim 2 wherein said air inflow adjusting step comprises selectively diverting excess air flow from the engine.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 38 words
The method of claim 4 wherein the engine system includes a supercharging device for supplying air to the engine, and further including the step of recycling the diverted air flow to the intake side of the supercharging device.
