The light-sensitive material of claim 1, wherein said ballast group is represented by the following general formula (II) ##STR26## wherein ##STR27## represents an unsubstituted aromatic heterocyclic ring containing at least one of an oxygen atom and a sulfur atom and wherein X represents a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, an alkyl group, an aryl grouop, a heterocyclic group, a hydroxy group, an alkoxy group, an aryloxy group, an acylamino group, a sulfonamido group, a carbamoyl group, a sulfamoyl group, a ureido group, an alkoxycarbonyl group, an alkoxycarbonylamino group, a sulfonyl group, an alkylthio group, a cyano group, a nitro group or a carboxyl group and m represents an integer of 1 or 2.
