Abstract

Abstract A device for effecting exact scanning of an object along a path extending in a predetermined coordinate direction has two rigidly connected drivers acting in opposite directions with respect to each other. One of the drivers is operatively connected to impart oscillating motion to a scanner carrier suspended on springs, and the other driver is connected to impart oscillating motion to a counterweight suspended on springs, with the weight of the counterweight being substantially equal to the scanner carrier plus the scanner. The guiding device also has a control circuit for controlling the movements of the scanner carrier and counterweight to be in opposite directions so as to counterbalance dynamic movements in the scanning device. Linear guide elements are provided guiding the scanner carrier and means are provided for laterally displacing the scanning line of the scanner.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 14
Claim 1
Independent Claim 131 words
A device for linearly guiding a scanner along a path extending in a predetermined coordinate direction, said device comprising two drive means operating in opposing directions and rigidly connected with each other; one of said drive means being operatively connected to impart oscillating motion to a scanner carrier suspended on springs and bearing said scanner, the other drive means being operatively connected to impart oscillating motion to a counterweight suspended on springs, the weight of said counterweight being substantially equal to the weight of said scanner carrier plus said scanner; said device further comprising control means for actuating said drive means so that the oscillating movements of said scanner carrier and of said counterweight produced by said drive means are always in opposing directions, and means for laterally displacing said scanner.
Claim 2
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 14 words
A device according to claim 1, comprising guide means for guiding said scanner carrier.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 29 words
A device according to claim 2, wherein said guide means comprises two leaf springs of equal length operatively connected to opposite sides of said scanner carrier by pivotable joints.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 27 words
A device according to claim 2, wherein said guide element comprises two leaf springs of different lengths pivotably joined to the same side of said scanner carrier.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 84 words
A device according to claim 2, wherein said guide means comprises four leaf springs of equal length arranged in the form of a parallelogram, said leaf springs connecting the scanner carrier bearing the scanner and a counterweight at opposite corners from each other diagonally across the parallelogram, and said leaf springs further connecting two intermediate carriers located at the other corners of said parallelogram diagonally across from each other; said two drive means acting in opposing directions being operatively connected to said intermediate carriers.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 53 words
A device according to claim 5, further comprising means for supporting said guide means comprising two additional leaf springs, one end of each of said additional leaf springs being connected to a fixed point, and the other end of each of said additional leaf springs being connected to one of said intermediate carriers.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 22 words
A device according to claim 2, wherein said means for guiding said scanner carrier comprises a pair of spaced, parallel membrane springs.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 17 words
A device according to claim 1, further comprising a distance measuring system associated with said scanner carrier.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 21 words
A device according to claim 1, further comprising a distance measuring system associated with said means for laterally displacing said scanner.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 22 words
A device according to claim 1, further comprising a distance measuring system associated with the drive means operatively connected to said counterweight.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim 50 words
A device according to claim 8, wherein said distance measuring system associated with said scanner carrier is part of a control device which--utilizing limiting means--correlates the operating range of said scanner during lateral displacement of the scanning line of said scanner with the theoretical position defined by the object field.
Claim 13
Dependent Claim 32 words
A device according to claim 1, wherein said control means comprises an electronic circuit for producing a signal linearly related to the oscillating movements of the scanner carrier and of the counterweight.
Claim 14
Dependent Claim 45 words
A device according to claim 1, further comprising additional control means for actuating said means for lateral displacement of said scanner when the scanner carrier is outside of its operating range defined by the region of movement of said scanner carrier at a uniform velocity.
