Abstract

Abstract A plant growth stimulator formulation including a substantially water-soluble concentrate solution of 1-triacontanol, a polar organic solvent, metal ions having a valence of +2 or more, and other plant growth substances. Metal ions of the present invention markedly enhance the growth-stimulating effect of 1-triacontanol when applied to plant life resulting crop yield increases which may be as high as 50 to 100%. The addition of certain plant growth substances, especially auxins, alter the plants' response to the 1-triacontanol formulations containing metal ions, and broaden the effective range of concentrations of said metal ions which are effective in assisting 1-triacontanol in stimulating plant growth. In some cases, an additional synergistic effect is observed. The formulations are effective on all plant life tested, including field corn, soybeans, wheat and grains, vegetables, and other plant life. In addition, additive effects are noted in successive generations of plant life to which the formulations are applied.
