Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 6
Claim 1
Independent Claim 172 words
A water based pigment ink composition for writing, comprising: (1) from 3 to about 30% by weight of a pigment, based on the total ink composition; (2) from 5 to 300 parts by weight of a dispersing agent, based on 100 parts by weight of pigment in the ink composition, which is a copolymer of from 5 to less than 50 mol % of a water-soluble amine salt or ammonium salt of acrylic acid or methacrylic acid with the remaining monomer being at least one ester of acrylic or methacrylic acid, styrene or styrene derivative; (3) from 0.5 to 50% by weight of urea, thiourea or derivative thereof as an anti-drying agent, based on the total ink composition; and (4) from 15 to 75% by weight of an aqueous medium, based on the total amount of ink composition, containing from 2 to 50 parts by weight of ethylene glycol, glycerine, diethylene glycol, propylene glycol and/or dipropylene glycol per 100 parts by weight of water, as a high boiling point water-soluble organic solvent.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 172 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 30 words
The ink composition according to claim 1 which contains from about 10 to about 100 parts by weight of the dispersing agent per 100 parts by weight of the pigment.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 22 words
The ink composition according to claim 1 which contains from about 2.5 to 40% by weight of the anti-drying agent (3) .
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 19 words
The ink composition according to claim 1 which contains from 40 to 60% by weight of the aqueous medium.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 36 words
The ink composition according to claim 1 wherein the copolymer comprises from 60 to 95 molar % of the hydrophobic addition polymerizable monomer and from 5 to 40 molar % of acrylic acid or methacrylic acid.
