Abstract
Abstract An animal activity housing and monitor includes several vertically displaced levels of animal cages 32 which are angularly disposed about a core 28. The core is mounted for rotation relative to the animal cages and for fiberoptic communication with the cages. The fiberoptic filaments provide for at least one light beam to be sequentially transmitted across the cages within each level for detecting animal position. Surrounding the central core are animal activity stations 36 which may be used for animal weighing, feeding, or experimentation. The cage support structure 24 is mounted for rotational positioning so that cages may be positioned at animal activity stations 36.
