Abstract

Abstract Thermoplastic molding masses based on the copolymerization of styrene and/or α-methylstyrene and acrylonitrile, which may be modified to be impact resistant with rubberlike polymers, are made antistatic by adding 0.01 to 1.5 percent by weight of a graft polyol which is a polyhydroxy-polyalkylene polyether modified with styrene-acrylonitrile copolymers.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 8
Claim 1
Independent Claim 79 words
An antistatic thermoplastic molding material comprising a copolymer of styrene and/or α-methylstyrene and acrylonitrile and, as an antistatic agent, from 0.01 percent by weight to 1.5 percent by weight of a graft polyol prepared by polymerization of a styrene-acrylonitrile mixture in a polyhydroxy polyalkylene polyether said polyether having a molecular weight of 500 to 10,000 and being obtained by the addition reaction of an alkylene oxide having 2 to 3 carbon atoms with a di- or trifunctional initiator molecule.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 79 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 46 words
The molding material of claim 1 wherein the antistatic agent is produced by polymerization of a mixture of 5 to 60 percent by weight of styrene/acrylonitrile in a weight ratio of 90:10 to 30:70 and 40 to 95 percent by weight of a polyhydroxyl polyalkylene polyether.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 29 words
The molding material of claim 1 wherein the copolymer is styrene and/or α-methylstyrene and 8 to 50 percent by weight of acrylonitrile based on the weight of the copolymer.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 23 words
The molding materials of claim 1 wherein the copolymer is styrene and/or α-methylstyrene and acrylonitrile modified to be impact resistant with rubberlike polymers.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 42 words
The process of suppressing dust accumulation which comprises incorporating in a thermoplastic molding material based on a copolymer of styrene and/or α-methylstyrene and acrylonitrile from 0.01 percent by weight to 1.5 percent by weight of an antistatic agent according to claim 1.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 22 words
The process of claim 5 wherein the copolymer of styrene and/or α-methylstyrene and acrylonitrile is impact resistance modified with a rubberlike polymer.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 13 words
The antistatic thermoplastic molding material of claim 1 which further contains an antioxidant.
