Abstract

Abstract Batteries having a positive electrode and a negative electrode containing zinc and cadmium matter. The cadmium matter is an additive enhancing adherence of the negative electrode for zinc electroreduced from solid zinc compound state or deposited thereon from electrolytes. The zinc matter and the active material of the positive electrode are employed in quantities such that the cadmium matter is maintained electrochemically inactive with respect to the active material of the positive electrode in battery discharging.
