Novel light stabilizers for polymers

Claim 1

An oligomer of the formula: ##STR16## wherein R represents C 1 -C 8 alkyl; R 1 represents C 1 -C 8 alkoxy, C 1 -C 8 alkyl, halo, C 1 -C 8 alkylthio, amino, C 1 -C 18 alkylamino, C 1 -C 18 dialkylamino, morpholino, pyrrolidyl, piperidino the groups ##STR17## wherein R 2 , R 3 , R 4 , R 5 and R 6 are as defined below, a substituted C 1 -C 18 alkylamino or C 1 -C 18 dialkylamino, wherein the substitutents are selected from amino, cyano, carboxy, alkoxycarbonyl wherein the alkoxy moiety has 1-8 carbon atoms, and the groups ##STR18## wherein R 2 represents hydrogen, C 1 -C 8 alkyl, or benzyl; R 3 and R 4 independently represent C 1 -C 8 alkyl, benzyl, or phenethyl, or together with the carbon to which they are attached form a C 5 -C 10 cycloalkyl; R 5 represents hydrogen, C 2 -C 3 hydroxyalkyl, C 1 -C 8 alkyl, hydroxyl, or oxyl; and R 6 represents hydrogen, C 1 -C 8 alkyl or ##STR19## Y and Y 1 , which may be the same or different, represent oxy or ##STR20## wherein R 6 is as previously defined; X and X 1 represent C 2 -C 18 alkylene, wherein the alkylene chain may be interrupted by one or more oxy, thio, or ##STR21## radicals, C 5 -C 10 cycloalkylene, ##STR22## C 6 -C 12 arylene, or C 8 -C 14 aralkylene, and n is an integer greater than 1; with the proviso that when Y and Y 1 are oxy, or R 6 is hydrogen or C 1 -C 16 alkyl, at least one R 1 is ##STR23##
