Abstract

Abstract Photothermographic imaging elements are provided with strippable layers which have electrical conductivity in the range of 60 to 1,500 ohms/square. The elements may be exposed to radiation and then thermally developed by applying a voltage across the strippable layer which becomes resistively heated. After development, the strippable layer may be removed.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 9
Claim 1
Independent Claim 40 words
A photothermographic element comprising a support base having on one surface thereof a photothermographically imageable layer and adhered to the opposite surface of said support base a strippable layer having a resistance of between 60 and 1,500 ohms per square.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 40 words
A photothermographic element comprising a support base having on one surface thereof a photothermographically imageable layer and adhered to the opposite surface of said support base a strippable layer having a resistance of between 60 and 1,500 ohms per square.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 51 words
The element of claim 1 wherein said strippable layer comprises a first insulating layer having one side bonded to said opposite surface of said support base and a second layer which provides the resistnce of between 60 and 1500 ohms per square adhered to the other side of said first layer.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 38 words
The element of claim 1 wherein said strippable layer comprises a polymeric resin filled with conductive material and said strippable layer may be removed by a force of 0.5 to 9 ounces per inch width of the layer.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 21 words
The element of claim 3 wherein said conductive material is selected from the group consisting of carbon black, graphite, and metal.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 12 words
The element of claim 3 wherein said conductive material comprises carbon black.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 30 words
The element of claims 1, 2, or 5 wherein said photothermographic layer comprises silver halide, a silver source material and a reducing agent for silver ion in a polymeric binder.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 34 words
The element of claims 1, 2 or 5 wherein said support base is a transparent polyethylene terephthalate polymeric resin layer and said strippable layer comprises a mixture of cellulose acetate and cellulose acetate propionate.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 45 words
The element of claims 1, 2 or 5 wherein said photothermographic layer comprises silver halide, a silver source material, and a reducing agent for silver ion and said support base comprises a transparent polyethylene terephthalate polymeric resin and said strippable layer comprises a cellulose ester.
