Abstract

Abstract Disclosed is an adhesive tape comprising a support film of a synthetic thermoplastic polymer, preferably polyvinylchloride or polypropylene, and an adhesive layer on one side of it, wherein the support film has a thickness less than about 35 μm and preferably is stretch-oriented. Provided on the surface of the support film facing away from the adhesive layer are elevations having a depth within a range of from about 5 to 20 μm.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 13
Claim 1
Independent Claim 86 words
An adhesive tape, comprising: a stretch-oriented and embossed support film of synthetic thermoplastic polymer having first and second sides and a thickness of less than about 35 μm and having on its first side a plurality of elevations formed by embossing the film and having a height within the range of from about 5 to 20 μm, and on its second side a plurality of depressions equal and opposite to said elevations; and a layer of pressure-sensitive adhesive on the second side of said support film.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 86 words
An adhesive tape, comprising: a stretch-oriented and embossed support film of synthetic thermoplastic polymer having first and second sides and a thickness of less than about 35 μm and having on its first side a plurality of elevations formed by embossing the film and having a height within the range of from about 5 to 20 μm, and on its second side a plurality of depressions equal and opposite to said elevations; and a layer of pressure-sensitive adhesive on the second side of said support film.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 48 words
An adhesive tape according to claim 1, wherein said adhesive tape is in the form of a roll comprising a plurality of windings with the pressure-sensitive adhesive of each winding being in contact with and adhered to the first side of the support film of the adjacent winding.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 14 words
An adhesive tape according to claim 1, wherein the support film is biaxially stretch-oriented.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 21 words
An adhesive tape according to claim 3, wherein the stretch-oriented support film has a thickness of about 20 to 30 μm.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 15 words
An adhesive tape according to claim 1, wherein the support film comprises polyvinylchloride or polypropylene.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 13 words
An adhesive tape according to claim 1, wherein the support film comprises polyvinylchloride.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 13 words
An adhesive tape according to claim 1, wherein the support film comprises polypropylene.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 14 words
An adhesive tape according to claim 1, wherein said elevations form a diamond pattern.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 29 words
An adhesive tape according to claim 1, comprising a roll of said adhesive tape having the first side of said support film facing the radial outside of the roll.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 31 words
An adhesive tape according to claim 1, whereby said elevations and corresponding depressions form a plurality of hollow protrusions of flexible thermoplastic polymer extending out of the plane of the film.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim 34 words
An adhesive tape according to claim 1, wherein said first side of said support film forms one surface of the tape and said adhesive layer forms a substantially planar second surface of the tape.
Claim 13
Dependent Claim 22 words
An adhesive tape according to claim 1, wherein said adhesive layer comprises a smooth profile on the surface opposite said support film.
