Abstract

Abstract A fuel injection timing control system for a Diesel engine, having a fuel injection pump supplying fuel to the engine periodically according to the rotation of the engine crankshaft, and a device connected to the fuel injection pump to vary the fuel injection timing in terms of crank angle. The engine is equipped with an exhaust gas recirculation arrangement. A control unit is connected to the device and the arrangement to drive them in such a manner that when the arrangement is operative to effect the exhaust gas recirculation, the fuel injection timing is advanced compared to that under the condition where the exhaust gas recirculation arrangement is at rest suspending the exhaust gas recirculation.
