Abstract

Abstract The present invention is concerned with modifying the crystal form of the anthraquinone of the formula ##STR1## so as to render it more suitable for disperse dyeing and to improve its performance in thermosol dyeing. The modification is effected by heating the dyestuff at elevated temperatures, preferably between 90° and 185° C. until the Debye-Scherrer strong intensity spacings appear at 6.5A°, 18.1A° and 20.6A°. It is also concerned with disperse and thermosol dyeing processes utilizing this crystal modification and with aqueous dispersions of this crystal modification.
