A stabilized composition which comprises (a) a chlorine-containing thermoplastic, and (b) from 0.05 to 5 percent by weight, based on component (a), of a compound of formula I ##STR6## in which R 1 is hydrogen, C 1 -C 18 -alkyl, C 5 -C 7 -cycloalkyl, unsubstituted or C 1 -C 4 -alkyl-substituted or hydroxyl-substituted phenyl or one of the groups --C(R 4 )═C(R 5 )--COOR 6 , --CH 2 CH 2 --CN, ##STR7## or --CO--CH 2 --CO--CH 3 , R 2 is hydrogen, C 1 -C 18 -alkyl, C 5 -C 7 -cycloalkyl, unsubstituted or C 1 -C 4 -alkyl-substituted or hydroxyl-substituted phenyl or a --CH 2 CH 2 --CN group, R 3 is hydrogen, hydroxyl, C 1 -C 4 -alkyl, C 2 -C 5 -alkoxycarbonyl, aminocarbonyl or cyano, R 4 and R 5 independently of one another are hydrogen or C 1 -C 4 -alkyl and R 6 is C 1 -C 18 -alkyl or C 5 -C 7 -cycloalkyl.

A stabilized composition which comprises (a) a chlorine-containing thermoplastic, and (b) from 0.05 to 5 percent by weight, based on component (a), of a compound of formula I ##STR6## in which R 1 is hydrogen, C 1 -C 18 -alkyl, C 5 -C 7 -cycloalkyl, unsubstituted or C 1 -C 4 -alkyl-substituted or hydroxyl-substituted phenyl or one of the groups --C(R 4 )═C(R 5 )--COOR 6 , --CH 2 CH 2 --CN, ##STR7## or --CO--CH 2 --CO--CH 3 , R 2 is hydrogen, C 1 -C 18 -alkyl, C 5 -C 7 -cycloalkyl, unsubstituted or C 1 -C 4 -alkyl-substituted or hydroxyl-substituted phenyl or a --CH 2 CH 2 --CN group, R 3 is hydrogen, hydroxyl, C 1 -C 4 -alkyl, C 2 -C 5 -alkoxycarbonyl, aminocarbonyl or cyano, R 4 and R 5 independently of one another are hydrogen or C 1 -C 4 -alkyl and R 6 is C 1 -C 18 -alkyl or C 5 -C 7 -cycloalkyl.
