Abstract

Abstract The present invention provides a catalyst composition and a process for reducing and removing nitrogen oxides with ammonia in the presence of molecular oxygen, said catalyst composition comprising at least three components of titanium, vanadium and magnesium and optionally tungsten, the titanium and tungsten being contained as oxides and the vanadium and magnesium being contained as oxides and/or sulfates. This catalyst composition is characterized by magnesium being substituted for all or part of expensive tungsten and has advantages of high activity with improved catalyst life and heat resistance.
