Abstract

Abstract A vertically oriented carburetor for use in a model jet aircraft power plant having an essentially circular duct and a multibladed fan. The carburetor utilizes an essentially cylindrical body having a web portion to permit airflow from the fan for cooling the cylinder of a model engine and a forwardly oriented carburetor air opening for receiving pressurized air from the fan. Concentric fuel feed and throttle tubes have their adjustments for control at the top end so as to be external to the power plant circular duct to eliminate interference with the propulsion airstream from the fan.

The carburetor as defined in claim 1 in which said cylindrical body has a lower portion thereof having a cylindrical concentric inlet chamber therein, said chamber having said forwardly oriented carburetor air opening therein, said lower portion having said throat section communicating with said chamber by being inserted into said fuel mixture port of said engine.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 139 words
The carburetor as defined in claim 2 in which said throttle includes: a throttle tube extending from the top of said body into said chamber, said throttle tube concentric to said body and having a closed lower end and a first fuel outlet slot adjacent said lower end, said throttle tube having an inverted air control cup concentric with said chamber and said throttle tube, said cup having a cup opening therethrough matching said chamber opening, said throttle tube externally rotatable with respect to said body to cause said cup opening to move relative to said chamber opening to thereby vary the amount of incoming air into said chamber; and a throttle arm connected to the upper end of said throttle tube to rotate said throttle tube changing said incoming airflow through said chamber opening and said cup opening.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 106 words
The carburetor as defined in claim 3 in which said fuel-air ratio mixture control includes a fuel supply tube disposed concentrically within said throttle tube to fit snugly therein, said fuel supply tube having a closed lower end and a second fuel outlet slot adjacent said lower end and aligned with said first fuel outlet slot in said throttle tube wherein rotation of said throttle tube changes the fuel flow through said second fuel outlet slot and said first fuel outlet slot, said fuel supply tube communicating with an external fuel inlet, said fuel supply tube rotatable within said throttle tube for adjusting the fuel-air ratio.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 26 words
The carburetor as defined in claim 4 in which said second fuel outlet slot has a non-linear opening to thereby provide a more linear throttle adjustment.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 40 words
The carburetor as defined in claim 4 in which said needle valve is disposed between said fuel inlet and said fuel supply tube, said needle valve means externally adjustable to control the maximum fuel flow into said fuel supply tube.
Claim 8
