Abstract

Abstract A method for scanning an original picture at a high speed by using a white light for use in a picture reproducing machine such as a color scanner and a color facsimile, wherein a light beam generated by a light source is deflected by a light deflector and the deflected light beam is focused by a concave mirror, and wherein an original picture is scanned by a light spot obtained by focusing the light beam by the concave mirror, while the light deflector is oscillated, the original picture being arranged in a curve along which the light spot is focused, and then the light beam passing through the original picture is detected by a light detector to obtain a picture signal.
