Abstract

Abstract Styryl dyestuffs of the general formula ##STR1## wherein Het represents a pyridinium radical having the structure ##STR2## R and R 1 independently of one another designate lower alkyl or alkenyl groups, which can be substituted by non-ionic radicals, ring A can be substituted by C 1 - to C 4 -alkyl, ring B can be substituted by C 1 - to C 4 -alkyl, C 1 - to C 4 -alkoxy or halogen, D represents the remaining members of a 5-membered to 7-membered heterocyclic ring and An - represents an anion, are used for dyeing natural and synthetic substrates which can be dyed with cationic dyestuffs, in particular for beater-dyeing paper and for writing and printing on paper.
