Claims Analysis
Total Claims: 4
Claim 1
Independent Claim
125 words
A method of forming filaments comprising: forming a generally cylindrical rotating veil of interengaging primary fibers from a rotor containing filaments forming material; providing a gaseous blast external to said veil generally along the axis of rotation of the rotor; advancing said veil substantially along a path of advancement along the axis of rotation of said rotor; supplying a fluid to the interior of the veil by a conduit having a discharge orifice within said veil; providing a continuous surface of revolution within said veil along the path of advancement of said veil; and moving the fluid over the exterior of said surface according to the Coanda effect along the axis of rotation into engagement with said veil to attenuate said primary fibers into filaments.

Claim 3
Dependent Claim
29 words
The method of claim 1 wherein said gaseous blast is directed inwardly and downwardly with respect to said rotor to promote the movement of said veil along said path.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
26 words
The method of claim 1 or 2 wherein said gaseous blast is delivered at a volume and velocity sufficient to attenuate said primary fibers into filaments.
