Abstract

Abstract A pin element of the type used in a multiple pin electrical connector comprises an inner conductive portion formed of three helically wound oxygen free copper wires, and an outer conductive portion formed of a cluster of equal diameter outer wires helically wound around the inner portion for frictionally engaging a socket. From 25% to 70% of the outer wires are formed of beryllium copper and the remaining outer wires are formed of oxygen free copper to reduce engagement forces while maintaining minimum separation forces.
