Claim 1
Independent Claim
82 words
A friction element of improved resistance to wear comprising from about 5 to about 60 percent of aramid fibers having a decomposition temperature of at least about 850° F. bonded together with from about 40 to about 95 percent of heat-hardenable cement comprising a thermosetting resin and a heat-curable elastomer, said percentages being by weight based on the combined weight of fibers and cement, said element having been subjected to heat and pressure to consolidate said fibers and to cure said cement.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
