Claims Analysis
Total Claims: 7
Claim 1
Independent Claim
89 words
Illuminating apparatus comprising, a light source, a relatively opaque diffuse reflector having a principal light emitting opening for reflecting light from said source through said opening in a first primary light beam in a first principal direction of maximum illumination, and transflecting means adjacent to said light source for receiving light therefrom and transmitting a portion of the received light for use by an observer and reflecting back another part of said received light toward the interior of said reflector for illumination reinforcement of said first primary light beam.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
62 words
Illuminating apparatus in accordance with claim 1 comprising a trough reflector of arcuate cross section with a long light source at its center and said transflecting means extending adjacent to said light source for transmitting a portion of the light therefrom through said transflecting means and reflecting the remaining received portion to said reflector for re-reflection toward the area to be illuminated.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
36 words
Illuminating apparatus in accordance with claim 1 wherein the surface brightness of said transflecting means is of substantially the same intensity as the surface brightness of said reflector so that said transflecting means is essentially invisible.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
33 words
Illuminating apparatus in accordance with claim 1 wherein said reflector is a hemitorus reflector and said transflecting means is a partially translucent reflecting hemisphere separated from said hemitorus reflector by said light source.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
30 words
Illuminating apparatus in accordance with claim 4 wherein said hemitorus reflector, said light source and said translucent reflecting hemisphere coact to form a diffuse transmitter-reflector of substantially uniform surface brightness.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
28 words
Illuminating apparatus in accordance with claim 1 wherein said relatively opaque diffuse reflector and said transflecting means coact to form a diffuse transmitter-reflector of substantially uniform surface brightness.
