Abstract

Abstract A composition comprising a hydroxyl endblocked polydiorganosiloxane, methylvinylsilyl-bis-pyrrolidone, and organic peroxide will simultaneously chain extend and crosslink when heated. The composition can be prepared with a low viscosity polydiorganosiloxane to yield a low viscosity composition useful for coating, impregnating, and forming operations. Because the polymer chain extends as well as crosslinks during cure, the physical properties of the cured elastomer are superior to those of a low viscosity polymer which is merely crosslinked to an elastomer.
