Abstract
Abstract Normal aliphatic hydrocarbons in a hydrocarbon feed are selectively cracked or hydrocracked by contacting the feed with a catalyst composition comprising a crystalline acid aluminosilicate of the erionite variety (offretite) having a pore size of about 5 Angstroms and a silicon to aluminum ratio of at least 1.8, said aluminosilicate having been prepared by ion exchange with an aqueous medium containing a source of hydrogen ions or ions capable of conversion thereto, e.g., ammonium ions.
