Abstract
Abstract Hot melt adhesive compositions are provided which contain (a) about 10-30 weight % of an alkenyl succinic anhydride, (b) about 20-60 weight % of an ethylene copolymer, and (c) about 10-40 weight % of a tackifying resin which is an aromatic hydrocarbon resin.

A hot melt adhesive composition consisting essentially of: (a) 10-30 weight % of an alkenyl succinic anhydride, (b) 20-60 weight % of an ethylene copolymer, and (c) 10-40 weight % of a tackifying resin; said alkenyl succinic anhydride having the structure: ##STR2## where R is an alkyl group containing at least about 15 carbon atoms; said ethylene copolymer having polymerized therein at least 40 weight % polymerized ethylene and the balance one or more polymerized monomers from the group consisting of vinyl acetate, acrylic and methacrylic acid and alkyl esters of acrylic and methacrylic acid; and said tackifying resin being an aromatic hydrocarbon resin having a Ring and Ball softening point of about 40°-160° C.

A hot melt adhesive composition consisting essentially of: (a) 10-30 weight % of an alkenyl succinic anhydride, (b) 20-60 weight % of an ethylene copolymer, and (c) 10-40 weight % of a tackifying resin; said alkenyl succinic anhydride having the structure: ##STR2## where R is an alkyl group containing at least about 15 carbon atoms; said ethylene copolymer having polymerized therein at least 40 weight % polymerized ethylene and the balance one or more polymerized monomers from the group consisting of vinyl acetate, acrylic and methacrylic acid and alkyl esters of acrylic and methacrylic acid; and said tackifying resin being an aromatic hydrocarbon resin having a Ring and Ball softening point of about 40°-160° C.
