Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 19
Claim 1
Independent Claim 83 words
A powder-free surgeon's glove comprising: a support glove of a first elastomer having a halogenated inner surface and a backing glove of a second elastomer chemically secured to an outer surface of the support glove, wherein the second elastomer provides the glove with greater resistance to halogen degradation than does the first elastomer, whereby sharp angular flexing in the knuckle area as well as stretching and snapping during donning does not crack the laminated support glove nor delaminate it from this backing glove.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 83 words
A powder-free surgeon's glove comprising: a support glove of a first elastomer having a halogenated inner surface and a backing glove of a second elastomer chemically secured to an outer surface of the support glove, wherein the second elastomer provides the glove with greater resistance to halogen degradation than does the first elastomer, whereby sharp angular flexing in the knuckle area as well as stretching and snapping during donning does not crack the laminated support glove nor delaminate it from this backing glove.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 16 words
A surgeon's glove as set forth in claim 1, wherein the first elastomer is latex rubber.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 15 words
A surgeon's glove as set forth in claim 1 wherein the second elastomer is silicone.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 33 words
A surgeon's glove as set forth in claim 1, wherein the support glove has a thickness of 0.003 to 0.010 inch and the backing glove has a thickness of 0.0002 to 0.002 inch.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 16 words
A surgeon's glove as set forth in claim 1, wherein the inner surface is chlorine halogenated.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 25 words
A surgeon's glove as set forth in claim 1, wherein the backing glove has greater slip resistance than the support glove for manipulating surgical instruments.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 32 words
A surgical glove as set forth in claim 1, wherein the second elastomer is capable of stretching as much or more than the first elastomer to prevent crazing in the knuckle area.
Claim 9
Independent Claim 96 words
A method of making a powder-free surgeon's glove comprising the steps of: (a) forming a support glove of a first elastomer; (b) attaching a backing glove of a second elastomer to an exterior of the support glove, wherein the backing glove provides the glove with greater resistance to halogen degradation than does the support glove; (c) chemically bonding the two gloves together; (d) curing the backing glove; and (e) halogenating a surface of the support glove that is not protected by the backing glove to provide a surgeon's glove that is easily donnable without lubricating powders.
Claim 10
Independent Claim 96 words
A method of making a powder-free surgeon's glove comprising the steps of: (a) forming a support glove of a first elastomer; (b) attaching a backing glove of a second elastomer to an exterior of the support glove, wherein the backing glove provides the glove with greater resistance to halogen degradation than does the support glove; (c) chemically bonding the two gloves together; (d) curing the backing glove; and (e) halogenating a surface of the support glove that is not protected by the backing glove to provide a surgeon's glove that is easily donnable without lubricating powders.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 17 words
A method as set forth in claim 8, wherein the support glove is formed of latex rubber.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim 16 words
A method as set forth in claim 8, wherein the backing glove is formed of silicone.
Claim 13
Dependent Claim 16 words
A method as set forth in claim 8, wherein the support glove is halogenated with chlorine.
Claim 14
Dependent Claim 21 words
A method as set forth in claim 8, wherein the method includes the further step of heat treating the halogenated glove.
Claim 15
Dependent Claim 29 words
A method as set forth in claim 8, wherein the heat treating step is carried out at 50° to 110° C. for a period of 5 to 30 minutes.
Claim 16
Dependent Claim 23 words
A method as set forth in claim 8, wherein the halogenation step includes submerging the glove in an aqueous solution containing a halogen.
Claim 17
Independent Claim 49 words
A method of improving the resistance of elastomeric gloves to halogen degradation, delamination, and cracking by chemically securing to the outer surface of said glove a second elastomeric glove of the type which provides greater resistance to halogen degradation than does the first elastomeric glove, and halogenating said glove.
Claim 18
Independent Claim 49 words
A method of improving the resistance of elastomeric gloves to halogen degradation, delamination, and cracking by chemically securing to the outer surface of said glove a second elastomeric glove of the type which provides greater resistance to halogen degradation than does the first elastomeric glove, and halogenating said glove.
Claim 19
Dependent Claim 15 words
The method of claim 15 wherein the elastomer of the second elastomeric glove is silicone.
