Abstract
Abstract A full duplex data link for use between two transceiver terminals utilizing a single optical fiber for data transmission. The respective transmitters and receivers are coupled to the optical fiber utilizing a directional coupler in which the two fibers are of different diameters, the smaller fiber is the input fiber, and directional coupling is effected by joining a flat elliptical face formed on a curved section of the larger fiber and a flat elliptical face formed by severing the smaller fiber at an angle to the axis thereof.
