Abstract
Abstract A shift control for a countershaft transmission has an electric motor drive. The output of the electric motor is connected to the screw portion of a barrel-nut and screw actuator. The barrel-nut is selectively grounded or rotated so that the motion of the shift control output member is linear or rotary, respectively. The motion of the output member of the shift control describes an "H" or modified "H" shift pattern and is adapted to be connected to control the gear changing mechanism in a countershaft transmission.
