Abstract
Abstract Hot ceramic fibers, preferably those freshly manufactured, are provided with a coating containing an ionic coupling agent such as either a silane or titanate coupling agent and preferably also a surfactant. The coated fiber is then allowed to cool. The fiber, with the silane or titanate bonded therein has greatly improved flexibility, strength, abrasion resistance and most importantly dispersibility in water.
