Abstract
Abstract The incorporation of formic acid modified low equivalent weight amino polyols as crosslinkers in molded polyether polyurethane semiflexible foams is disclosed. These formic acid modified amino polyols result in foams which, when molded, display improved flowability, lower molded density and decreased usage per part. These improvements are demonstrable over nonformic acid modified low equivalent weight amino polyols and other commercial crosslinkers. The resulting foams find use in energy absorbing applications in the automotive industry and other industries.

In a method of preparing a molded flexible polyurethane product wherein a polyol, a polyisocyanate and water are reacted in a closable mold, the improvement which comprises: incorporating in the reaction a crosslinker of the formula: ##STR3## where the crosslinker is present in amounts ranging from about 6% to 30% based on the polyol.
