Abstract

Abstract A single crystal of pure or mixed univalent mercury halide, which is formed having a pair of opposed polished faces at least one of which is perpendicular to a direction which is inclined from the optical axis of the crystal about the crystallographic direction by an angle between 0.2° to 20.0°. Another face of the crystal is provided with a source of transverse acoustic waves.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 6
Claim 1
Independent Claim 104 words
An acousto-optic device comprising a single crystal of pure or mixed univalent mercury halide, characterized by having a first face provided with a source of acoustic wave, a pair of opposite faces polished for the entrance and exit of light waves, one of said polished faces being perpendicular to a direction inclined from the optical axis of the crystal [001] about the crystallographic direction [KHO] by an angle (α), said first face being inclined by the same angle (α) from the crystallographic plane (HKO) about the crystallographic direction [KHO] and being provided with a source of transverse acoustic waves vibrating in the [KHO] direction.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 104 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 14 words
The acousto-optic device according to claim 1, wherein α is between 0.2° and 20.0°.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 11 words
The acousto-optic device according to claim 1, wherein α is 4°.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 39 words
The acousto-optic device according to claims 1, 2, or 3, wherein the [HKO] direction is parallel to the [110] direction, the direction [KHO] is parallel to the [110] direction and the (HKO) plane is parallel to the (110) plane.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 30 words
The acousto-optic unit according to claims 1, 2, or 3, wherein the [HKO] direction is parallel to the [100] direction and the [KHO] direction is parallel to the [010] direction.
