Abstract

Abstract An electrophotographic process of this invention is achieved by subjecting a photosensitive screen to a matched performance of voltage applications and image irradiation to form a primary electrostatic latent image for modulating the flow of corona ions to enable a secondary electrostatic latent image on a recording member disposed in close proximity to the screen bearing the primary electrostatic latent image. The screen is made of a conductive member as the basic element for the screen, a photoconductive member covering the substantial part of the conductive member, and a surface insulating member also covering the substantial part of the conductive member and the photoconductive member, in which the conductive member is partly exposed at one surface side of the screen, or it is entirely covered by the surface insulating member with another conductive member to be exposed being provided on said insulating member, and the coating thicknesses of the photoconductive and surface insulating members are thicker at the portion opposite to the surface part of the conductive member to be exposed.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 6
Claim 1
Independent Claim 118 words
An electrophotographic process for use with a photosensitive screen having a number of openings therein, said process comprising the steps of applying a voltage to the screen, applying an image light to said screen to form a primary electrostatic latent image thereon, applying ion flow through the screen from a corona source onto a chargeable member to form a secondary latent image thereon, repeating the ion flow application step to form subsequent secondary images by a single primary electrostatic latent image, and a preliminary step of applying a corona ion flow of the same polarity as the corona ion source and prior to said secondary latent image formation to stabilize the condition of the primary electrostatic latent image.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 118 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 50 words
An electrophotographic process according to claim 1, wherein the stabilizing corona ion application is performed with a corona ion flow applied on the same side of the screen as the ion flow for the secondary latent image, and wherein an electrode is disposed at the other side of the screen.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 29 words
An electrophotographic process according to claim 1, wherein the stabilizing corona ion flow is applied prior to repeating the ion flow application step to the primary electrostatic latent image.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 121 words
An electrophotographic process for use with a photosensitive screen having a number of openings therein, said process comprising the steps of applying a voltage to the screen, applying an image light to said screen to form a primary electrostatic latent image thereof, applying ion flow through the screen from a corona source onto a chargeable member to form a secondary latent image thereon, repeating the ion flow application step to form subsequent secondary images by a single primary electrostatic latent image, wherein the first ion flow application step or a first few ion flow application steps are effected with a stronger ion flow than that of subsequent ion flow application steps to stabilize the condition of the primary electrostatic latent image.
