Abstract
Abstract A process for producing a pigment or dyestuff composition in the form of dustless readily dispersible granules, which process comprises contacting, with agitation, an aqueous dispersion of a pigment and a composition comprising one or more organic acids which are liquid at temperatures below 100° C. or their salts, at a pH value at which the acid is insoluble in water, the temperature being maintained during contacting above the melting point of the acid until the pigment has completely transferred into the organic phase; increasing the pH to a value suitable to render the acid soluble in water and recovering the resulting granules.

Dependent Claim
103 words
A process for producing a pigment or dyestuff composition in the form of dustless readily dispersible granules, which process comprises contacting, with agitation, an aqueous dispersion of a pigment and a composition comprising one or more organic acids which are liquid at temperatures below 100° C. or their salts, at a pH value at which the acid is insoluble in water, the temperature being maintained during contacting above the melting point of the acid until the pigment has completely transferred into the organic phase; increasing the pH to a value suitable to render the acid soluble in water and recovering the resulting granules.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
22 words
A process as claimed in claim 1 wherein the acid is a C 6 -C 10 straight- or branched-chain aliphatic carboxylic acid.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
21 words
A process as claimed in claim 1 wherein the acid is used as an alkali metal salt or an ammonium salt.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
25 words
A process as claimed in claim 1 wherein the amount of acid or salt is from 0.1 to 4 parts by weight percent of pigment.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim

A process as claimed in claim 4 wherein the amount of acid or salt is from 0.5 to 1.5 parts by weight per part of pigment.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
45 words
A process as claimed in claim 1 wherein an organic carrier is present, which is soluble in, or at least softened by, the acid compound; and which is insoluble, or can be rendered insoluble in water, at the final pH value used in the process.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
29 words

Claim 11
Dependent Claim
15 words
A process as claimed in claim 9 wherein the protective colloid is a hydroxyethyl cellulose.
